How to Dispute Items On Your Credit Report
|
|
Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, consumers are protected from having inaccurate
information on their credit reports. You have the right to dispute items that
appear in your credit report that you believe to be false. Each reporting
agency must be checked and disputed separately. To find out how to dispute
items in your credit file, you may visit the appropriate reporting agency at the
websites listed below.
Equifax http://www.equifax.com
Trans Union http://www.transunion.com
Experian http://www.experian.com
If worse comes to worse, you can contact a law firm that specializes in credit repair to assist
you with the process if you think you need help or have had no success in
disputing inaccurate items on your own.

repair assistance, and is a participant in the BBB Online Reliability Program.
Contact your creditors or send letters of dispute to the
credit bureaus to have inaccuracies on your credit report corrected. The credit
bureaus have 30 days to investigate your claim and make any appropriate
