Use our notes to help apply for a loan.Quicken Loans, previously Rock Financial Corporation, was founded in 1985 by Daniel Gilbert, and soon became one of the largest independent mortgage banks in the country.  In December 1999, Intuit Inc. (makers of TurboTax and Quicken software) purchased Rock Financial and renamed  the company Quicken Loans.  In July 2002, Gilbert and a small group of private investors purchased Quicken Loans back from Intuit retaining all Quicken Loans branding and marketing initiatives.  Quicken Loans has more than 3,750 employees and closed $16 billion in mortgages in 2005.
